AMSA provides advice and guidance about pathways to a career in the marine sciences and contributes to national initiatives to improve training.

Training for Towards Australia's Blue Economy 2020
A Working Group of the National Marine Science Committee (NMSC), chaired by AMSA member Professor Helene Marsh, was established to explore solutions to align marine science training with the needs of industry and government. AMSA played a key role on the Working Group with representation by successive presidents - Professor Lynnath Beckley, Associate Professor Will Figueira and Dr Penny Berents.

AMSA Careers in Marine Science
The AMSA Careers in Marine Science booklet was published by AMSA in 2005, detailing the types of marine careers available for Australian Marine Scientists and provides details of university courses Australia-wide.
