Dr Justin Lathlean

As Australia’s peak professional body for marine scientists from all disciplines and for over 60 years has promoted all aspects of marine science in Australia. AMSA operates with a membership network of individuals and corporate affiliates as a not-for-profit organisation.

AMSA Councillor: 2015-

Justin is a Visiting Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of New South Wales whose research focuses on the thermal biology and demography of intertidal communities across broad to fine spatial scales. He is particularly interested in understanding how changing temperatures will alter the strength of species interactions and the impact this will have on ecological communities.

He completed his Ph.D. in 2012 at the University of Wollongong under the supervision of Todd Minchinton and David Ayre and is currently undertaking a postdoctoral position at Rhodes University investigating geographic variability in the utilisation of intertidal mussel beds around the entire South African coastline.
