As Australia’s peak professional body for marine scientists from all disciplines and for over 60 years has promoted all aspects of marine science in Australia. AMSA operates with a membership network of individuals and corporate affiliates as a not-for-profit organisation.

Alicia Sutton

Dr Alicia Sutton is the Research Manager at the Western Australian Marine Science Institution and is also Director and Principal Marine Scientist at Carijoa Marine Consulting. Alicia has collaborated with leading marine research institutions, marine consultancies and government agencies on a range of projects involving strategic science planning, literature reviews, data management and analyses, risk assessments and conservation action planning.

Alicia completed a PhD in Marine Science at Murdoch University in 2015, prior to which was an Honours degree at Murdoch University and an undergraduate degree in Marine Biology and Zoology at the University of Western Australia. Her research specialised in zooplankton and biological oceanography, specifically krill of WA and the Indian Ocean.

Alicia started with AMSA as a student representative on the WA committee in 2010 and since 2020 has been on the AMSA Council. Alicia has been an active participant in several AMSA conferences and was the Organising Chair for the AMSA 2019 conference in Perth.
