2022 Cairns

The 58th annual AMSA Conference will be held in Cairns from 7 - 11 August, 2022. This conference is shaping to be the first face-to-face AMSA national meeting since Fremantle in 2019. The local organising and scientific committees are working hard to put together a great conference program.

The theme for the conference is “Change and Connections”, emphasising important linkages among environmental, ecological and social systems at a time characterised by rapid change across all these areas.

These themes are highlighted in our exciting logo produced by local Mamu artist Melanie Hava that captures the biodiversity of tropical seascapes.

Due to overwhelming demand from our scientific community, the submission deadline for abstracts and workshop proposals has been extended until Friday 18th March 2022.

SUBMIT YOUR ABSTRACT
DEADLINE has been extended until Friday 18th March 2022

The Scientific Committee has selected 24 topics to form a balanced program that we hope will engage all our delegates. We invite everyone to submit an abstract to one of the selected symposia and make a contribution to the Change and Connections conference. If you cannot find a symposium topic that is an ideal fit for your abstract, choose the most appropriate and the scientific committee will assist in finding the best fit for you in the program. Abstract submissions are invited for both oral and poster presentations, but oral presentations will be limited to 1 per participant.

CALL FOR WORKSHOP PROPOSALS
DEADLINE has been extended until 18th March 2022

Along with abstract submissions, we invite proposals for workshops, which will form an integral part of the conference program.  Workshops addressing specific aspects in the context of the conference theme “Change and Connections” are especially welcome, but other themes will be considered.

Themes exploring significant and/or new insights, technologies or collaborations associated with marine systems are also encouraged, as are themes that spotlight how cultural and traditional knowledge can inform and/or be informed by science.
