INSTITUTIONS FOR TRAINING

This section is also divided into research and applied careers. Each table identifies training institutions that provide some training in the careers indicated at either the undergraduate ('U') or postgraduate ('P') levels. Institutions are included if, by their judgement, the training they offer is suitable for graduates to gain employment at the level of qualification ('U' or 'P') indicated. However, readers need to be aware that in any one career area, different institutions may provide different levels of exclusively marine training depending on their resources and emphasis. It should be noted that some careers may not require a principal emphasis on marine material, for example, in marine economics a background in general economics with instruction in resource economics may be sufficient. Since courses and curricula may change from year to year, students will need to contact each institution for course details. Addresses of training institutions are listed in the following section on 'Institutions to Contact for Further Information'.
